Mary Purpura, M.S., CCC-SLP

Owner and Speech-Language Pathologist

Mary is a licensed and board-certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She received her Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Chapman University. She has clinical experience in pediatric private practice as well as public preschools and elementary schools. Prior to becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist, she worked as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.

Mary focuses on speech sound disorders, including articulation and phonology. She also enjoys early intervention, including assessment and treatment of children through preschool age.

In 2018, Mary and a colleague started a bimonthly literacy program for children at a homeless shelter, involving parent education, story reading, and related crafts and activities. She presented the resulting research, “Targeting Literacy in a Homeless Shelter,” at the 2019 American Speech-Language and Hearing (ASHA) convention in Orlando, FL. In 2017, she co-chaired the Friends Who Stutter Conference, providing support and education to children, teens, and adults who stutter.

Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids. She also loves cooking, traveling, trying new restaurants, and going to the beach.
